What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) controls the injection timing and duration for the injector on cylinder 3 by opening and closing it. The code is set when the control signal is out of range or absent, which can leave cylinder 3 with too little or no injection.
Possible causes
- Loose connection in the injector connector
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire to the injector
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector to the injector on cylinder 3 for looseness, oxidation and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the injector on cylinder 3 have no break and are not shorted to earth or voltage
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the injector on cylinder 3 and the wires to it

- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- Message in the display together with a warning symbol
- The engine is hard to start or does not start at all
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly on acceleration
- The engine does not run on all cylinders

- Lambda control is blocked
- Injection on cylinder 3 stops
- Engine output and speed may be limited
