What does this fault code mean?
The control module (ECM) controls the injection timing for the injector on cylinder 5 by opening and closing it. The code is set when the control signal is out of range or absent, and injection on cylinder 5 may then stop.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the injector connector
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the voltage supply to the injector
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read and clear the code, then start the engine to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector to the injector on cylinder 5 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the injector on cylinder 5 and listen whether it works
- 5If the fault remains, a workshop with diagnostic equipment should check the injector on cylinder 5 and the wires to it

- The environmental warning lamp lights up
- The engine does not run on all cylinders
- Cranking is fine, but the engine does not start
- Uneven idle
- Poor performance and lack of power when pulling away
