What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named switch B circuit, it applies to the signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. The signal stays high all the time and does not change when the pedal is moved, so the reported pedal position is wrong. The fault is first registered in the central electronic module (CEM), so the root fault may be there.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which registers the fault first
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in all control modules, not only the engine control module. If a code is present in the CEM, deal with it first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the accelerator pedal connector and wiring for chafing, pinched areas and loose connections
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the accelerator pedal position in live data stays at a high value when the pedal is released
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the CEM and the accelerator pedal sensor with diagnostic equipment
