What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) receives the accelerator pedal position through two signals that work independently of each other, one analogue and one digital PWM signal. The fault is set when the PWM signal is incorrect, and it is a general electrical fault in the pedal sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether the fault is still active
- 2With a diagnostic tool, compare the two pedal signals in live data; if they disagree, the sensor is the likely cause
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the accelerator pedal connector for oxidation, loose connections and moisture
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the accelerator pedal position sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice3
- Poor acceleration, the engine feels weak
- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque is limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
