ECM-P022B00 - Charge Air Cooler Bypass Control A Circuit Low. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the charge air cooler bypass valve and how it works. The fault is set when the signal from the valve's position sensor is too low, meaning the reading does not match the expected position.
Possible causes
- Loose contact or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit or short to ground in the supply to the position sensor
- Open circuit or short to ground in the signal wire to the position sensor
- Damaged bypass valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connector at the bypass valve and its position sensor for loose connections and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the bypass valve position sensor in live data with the ignition on, and see whether the value changes when the valve is activated
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the position sensor is not broken and not shorted to ground
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the bypass valve and its position sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
