What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signals from the fuel pump and sets the code when the pump gives incorrect signals. The fault may be an open circuit or a short in the signal wire, or a damaged control module. The fault is first registered in the central electronic module (CEM), so that module should be checked first.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and deal with them
- 2The code in the engine control module can only be cleared once the CEM fault has been fixed and cleared
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the fuel pump connectors and wiring for chafing, pinching and loose connections
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no break and is not shorted to ground or positive
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pump and the control module with diagnostic equipment
