What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the measured boost pressure with the target value it has set. The fault is set when the signal from the boost pressure sensor is too high, and it may then be caused by the control of the wastegate valve or by the turbo control valve.
Possible causes
- Incorrect setting of the wastegate valve pressure actuator
- Sticking wastegate valve
- Damaged turbo control valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the turbo control valve and listen for a click while it operates
- 3Look at the wastegate valve pressure actuator for cracks and loose hoses
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check that the turbo control valve works, and adjust the pressure actuator if it is set incorrectly
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor performance and lack of power while driving
What the fault can affect1
- Boost pressure is lower because the boost valve is fully opened
