What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the actual boost pressure with the boost pressure it calculates. The fault is set when the two do not agree. It may be caused by the boost pressure sensor, the turbo control motor or the turbocharger.
Possible causes
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
- Damaged turbo control motor
- Damaged turbocharger
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the boost pressure sensor value in live data with the engine at idle, and see whether it changes when the engine runs at higher revs
- 3Look at the boost pressure sensor connector for oxidation and loose connections
- 4Check that the air filter and intake seal properly, and look for air leaks
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor, turbo control motor and turbocharger with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The car performs worse than usual
What the fault can affect1
- Engine output is limited
