What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tracks the reading from the boost pressure sensor. The fault is set when the signal stays below a certain value for a set time, which points to a signal fault in the sensor or its wiring.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged boost pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the boost pressure sensor signal in live data at idle and when the engine runs at higher revs, and see whether the value rises
- 3Look at the boost pressure sensor connector for oxidation and loose connections
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the boost pressure sensor is not shorted to ground
- 5Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp comes on
- The car performs worse than usual
What the fault can affect1
- Boost pressure is limited
