What does this fault code mean?
The ECM tracks the reading from the boost pressure sensor. The fault is set when the signal has stayed above a certain value for a while, which points to a fault in the signal path between the sensor and the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged boost pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the boost pressure sensor signal in live data with the ignition on, before starting the engine. Note whether the value is already high
- 3Look at the boost pressure sensor connector for oxidation and loose connections
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not broken and not shorted to positive
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp comes on
- The car performs worse than usual
What the fault can affect1
- The engine runs with limited boost pressure
