What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the boost pressure sensor signal with a calculated value and with atmospheric pressure. The fault is set when the signal from the pressure sensor is unreasonable.
Possible causes
- Loose connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read boost pressure in live data at idle, and check that the value is steady and does not jump
- 3Look at the boost pressure sensor connector for play, corrosion and loose connections
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- The check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- A calculated boost pressure is used instead of the measured value
- Control of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is lost
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
