What does this fault code mean?
After filtering, the ECM checks the readings of sensors 1 and 2 against the atmospheric pressure reading from the control module's built-in sensor. The fault is set when the difference between them is too large.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Faulty air pressure and air temperature sensor 1
- Faulty air pressure and air temperature sensor 2
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the air pressure sensor values with atmospheric pressure in live data with the ignition on. The values should sit close to atmospheric pressure
- 3Look at the sensor connectors for oxidation and loose connections
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check sensors 1 and 2 with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice3
- The check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The car feels poor to drive, with reduced performance and lack of power
- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily
What the fault can affect1
- Turbo control is interrupted and the control module uses a modelled value for the boost pressure sensor
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
