What does this fault code mean?
The signal wire to the turbo control valve has been shorted to ground, so the engine control module (ECM) registers too low a voltage on it. The fault is therefore an electrical one where the wire is shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged turbo control valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With a diagnostic tool, activate the turbo control valve. A clear click from the engine bay shows that it works
- 3Look at the turbo control valve connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire between the engine control module and the turbo control valve is not shorted to ground
- 5Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the turbo control valve with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- The check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The car feels poor to drive, with reduced performance and lack of power
