What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the charge air cooler bypass valve and how it works. The fault is set when the signal from the valve is too high, which can happen when the valve sticks or jams while being driven towards open or closed.
Possible causes
- Control valve at the inlet is sticking or jammed
- Damaged control valve at the inlet
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the bypass valve value in live data follows the valve's movement when you activate it
- 3Look at the bypass valve for dirt and damage
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the control valve at the inlet with diagnostic equipment and replace it if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
