What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the bypass valve. The fault is set when the signal from the valve's position sensor does not match what the valve does when it is commanded.
Possible causes
- Bypass valve is sticking or jammed
- Damaged bypass valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With a diagnostic tool, activate the bypass valve and compare the position sensor value in live data with how the valve moves
- 3Look at the bypass valve for dirt and damage that could make it jam
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the bypass valve and its position sensor with diagnostic equipment
