ECM-P024D00 - Intercooler Bypass Valve Position Sensor. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the bypass valve position with the position it calculates when the valve opens and closes. The fault is set when the difference between them is too large.
Possible causes
- Loose contact, contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open circuit or short to ground or voltage in the wires to the bypass valve
- Bypass valve is sticking or jammed
- Damaged bypass valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Look at the bypass valve connector for play, oxidation and loose connections
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the bypass valve are not broken and not shorted to ground or positive
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the bypass valve and see whether the position value in live data changes smoothly
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the bypass valve and its position sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
