What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the fuel pressure control valve and the high-pressure side of the fuel system. The fault is set when there is a break in the valve's signal wire, or when the output stage of the control module finds the drive to the fuel flow valve out of range. It is an electrical fault with an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Loose contact, contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open circuit in the supply to the fuel pressure control valve
- Open circuit in the signal wire to the fuel pressure control valve
- Damaged fuel pump
- Fuel flow control valve is damaged
- Fault inside the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuel level in the tank is not low, and top up if it is
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 4Look at the fuel flow control valve connector for contact resistance, oxidation and loose connections
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the fuel flow control valve are not broken
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pump and the fuel flow control valve with diagnostic equipment

- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily
