What does this fault code mean?
The engine has a common-rail injection system that works under very high pressure. The code is stored when the engine control module (ECM) finds that the pressure is too low for fuel metering on B. The code is general and does not say what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Fuel supply to the pump is too low because of a low fuel level, a leak, air in the lines or a clogged fuel filter
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor or injector
- Damaged fuel flow control valve (MPROP) or fuel pressure control valve (PCV)
- Damaged feed pump or damaged injection pump
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes for the feed pump and deal with them first; then clear the code and test drive
- 2Look in the fuel tank: the level should be sufficient, otherwise top up
- 3Check the fuel system for leaks and whether the fuel filter is clogged
- 4Check the connectors to the fuel valves and the pressure sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and open circuit
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pressure in the injection system
