What does this fault code mean?
The ECM regulates fuel pressure through the fuel pump control module with a PWM signal. The code is stored when the PWM signal is too low, which is a general electrical fault. The causes are a signal wire short-circuited to ground or a damaged fuel pump control module.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Damaged fuel pump control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the fuel pump with the ignition on and see whether it runs
- 3Check the connector to the fuel pump control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With the ignition off and the connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not short-circuited to ground (the body)
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pump control module and the fuel pump
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not start but cranks
- The engine stalls while driving, at any time or all the time
