What does this fault code mean?
The ECM times the injectors by pulse-grounding the signal line to each one and checks the shape and size of the signal. The code applies to the injector for cylinder 1 and is stored when the signal in that circuit is too low.
Possible causes
- Signal line short-circuited to ground, or open circuit in the signal line
- Damaged injector
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector to the injector for cylinder 1 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the cylinder 1 injector wiring has no open circuit or short to ground
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the injector for cylinder 1 and listen for a click
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the injector and its control

- The engine does not run on all cylinders
- The car lacks power, even when pulling away from standstill
- Uneven idle
