What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the circuits to the injectors and stores the code when the signal to the injector for cylinder 4 is too high. The fault is a short circuit to supply voltage, which is a general electrical fault. The code applies to cylinder 4 only.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the cylinder 4 injector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With the ignition on and the connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check whether the signal wire to the injector has voltage to ground
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the injector for cylinder 4 and its control
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
- The car lacks power
- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily, at any time or all the time
- A noise from the engine, at any time or all the time
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
