What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks that each injector is functioning as it should. If an injector fails to open or close fully, misfires can result, among other things. The code is stored for cylinder 1 when the injector does not work correctly, and the fault may be that it has stuck. It is a component fault.
Possible causes
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: with the ignition on, activate the injector a few times to free any dirt; once per cylinder and drive only
- 3Check the connector to the cylinder 1 injector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If the fault remains after the activation, have a workshop replace the cylinder 1 injector
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
- The car lacks power
- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily, at any time or all the time
- A noise from the engine, at any time or all the time
