What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors how much fuel each injector delivers per cylinder. For cylinder 4, the code is stored when the injected fuel amount has deviated from the expected amount over several injections in a row. The code deals with small fuel quantities and is general.
Possible causes
- Injector sticking or stuck
- Worn injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the cylinder 4 injector and see whether it responds
- 3Check the connector to the cylinder 4 injector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 4 injector and replace it if it is sticking or worn
Symptoms you may notice3
- The car lacks power
- The car hesitates, surges or runs jerkily, at any time or all the time
- The Check engine light comes on or behaves abnormally
