What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the actual position of the intake air control valve with a calculated reference value. If they do not match, the fault code is stored and the valve is considered stuck in the closed position. The fault gives general fault information without a specific type.
Possible causes
- The control valve is stuck in the closed position
- Damaged control valve in the intake air inlet
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check that the damper on the intake pipe has not stuck in the closed position
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the valve's reference value and actual position in live data with the engine running and compare them
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status and check whether the fault code returns after a test drive
- 5If the fault remains: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control valve and the EGR function
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine warning light ("Check engine") lights up or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- No control of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)
