What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the learned limits of the control valve for the closed and open positions. If the limit for the open position is outside the permitted range, the fault code is stored. The fault is general and does not specify the type. The cause can be a sticking control valve due to dirt or contamination, or a damaged control valve.
Possible causes
- Sticking control valve due to dirt or contamination
- Damaged control valve in the intake air inlet
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code and clear it, then run the engine and see whether it returns
- 2Check that the control valve in the intake air inlet moves freely and is not dirty or blocked
- 3Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the control valve's learned limits in live data with the engine running and see whether either one lies outside the expected range
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the valve and replace it if it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
