ECM-P02FA84 - Diesel Intake Air Flow Position Sensor Minimum/Maximum Stop Performance. Bus Signal / Message Failures. Signal below allowable range
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the EGR valve and performs an adaptation of it when needed. If the adaptation value is below the permitted level, meaning outside a predefined value, the fault code is stored. The fault can be caused by a short-circuited signal cable, a damaged position sensor or a damaged EGR valve. The code affects EGR control.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged position sensor
- Damaged EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Check the signal cable to the position sensor for breaks and chafing; with a multimeter, confirm that the cable has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the EGR valve position in live data with the engine running and see whether the value is below what is expected
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the position sensor and the EGR valve and carry out the adaptation
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- No exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control
