What does this fault code mean?
If the engine control module (ECM) detects emission-related misfires on several cylinders, the fault code is stored. The code is linked to a cylinder-specific code that shows which cylinders misfire, and it has no fault tracing of its own.
Possible causes
- Low fuel level
- The engine does not reach operating temperature between several cold starts
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel
- Air leak in the intake system
- Clogged or leaking injection valve
- Incorrect fuel pressure
What you can do
- 1Read which cylinder-specific codes are present at the same time; they show which cylinders misfire
- 2Check that the fuel level is sufficient and that the correct fuel has been filled
- 3Check the intake system for leaks, such as hoses and connections with cracks or loose clamps
- 4After a repair: read the fault code and drive the car for a while to see that it does not return
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pressure, the compression and the injection valves
