What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the fuel quantity in the tank all the time. If the fuel level is too low, the fault code is stored. The cause is simply too little fuel in the tank, and the fault gives no separate fault tracing beyond checking the level.
Possible causes
- Fuel level in the tank too low
What you can do
- 1Check the fuel quantity in the tank and top up if the level is low
- 2Read the fault code after refuelling and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel quantity in live data and compare it with the gauge on the instrument panel
- 4If the fuel level is sufficient but the fault remains: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel level sensor and its signal
Symptoms you may notice4
- Poor performance and lack of power
- The engine stalls
- The engine does not start
- The engine does not crank when starting is attempted, or a clicking sound is heard
