What does this fault code mean?
The signal from knock sensor 2 is too high compared with limits that depend on engine speed. The fault code is then set. The causes may be poor contact, a loose sensor or a damaged sensor. The fault is a general signal fault.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the knock sensor plug
- Loosely fitted knock sensor
- Damaged knock sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and take a short drive
- 2Check that knock sensor 2 is tightened down and has not worked loose
- 3Check the connection to knock sensor 2 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the knock signal from sensor 2 in live data at idle and under throttle
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace knock sensor 2 if it is damaged

- Poor performance and lack of power, especially when pulling away from standstill
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs roughly during acceleration, slowing down and at constant speed
- Reduced performance
