What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the signals from the camshaft sensors for intake and exhaust. The fault is stored when the signal from both sensors is faulty or missing. It is always stored together with another code for the camshaft sensor signal, and that other code says more about the fault.
Possible causes
- Signal missing from the camshaft sensors
- Incorrect circuit for the camshaft sensors
What you can do
- 1Read both this code and the other camshaft sensor signal code with a diagnostic tool, and start with the one that says more about the fault.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the connectors to the camshaft sensors are secure and free from oxidation and contact resistance.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the camshaft sensors have no open circuit and are not shorted to ground or supply voltage.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check that the camshaft sensors are correctly fitted and correctly connected.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Uneven idle
- Poor performance
What the fault can affect3
- Camshaft control is switched off
- Diagnostics for camshaft control are switched off
- Boost pressure is controlled using the basic setting
