What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) checks the camshaft sensor signal all the time and compares it with the signal from the crankshaft sensor. The fault is stored when the module detects a faulty signal. It applies to the camshaft sensor on bank 1, or to the single sensor if the engine has only one.
Possible causes
- Loose connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged camshaft sensor
- Damaged crankshaft position sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'No fault found' means the fault is not active right now.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the connectors to the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor are secure and free from oxidation and contact resistance.
- 4If your diagnostic tool shows it, compare the camshaft sensor position in live data with the engine speed while the engine runs.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check that both the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor are correctly fitted.
