What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the camshaft sensor signal against the crankshaft sensor signal. The fault is stored when the module finds a faulty signal during the comparison. The code applies to the camshaft sensor on bank 1, or to the single sensor if the engine has only one.
Possible causes
- Loose connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged camshaft sensor
- Damaged crankshaft sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'No fault found' means the fault is not active right now.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the connectors at the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor are secure and free from oxidation.
- 4Check that the camshaft sensor and the crankshaft sensor are correctly fitted in their positions.
- 5If your diagnostic tool shows it, compare the camshaft sensor position in live data with the engine speed while the engine runs.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check the sensors and their wiring.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine does not start but cranks
