What does this fault code mean?
The code applies to the intake camshaft sensor on bank 2. The engine control module (ECM) counts the segments on the camshaft gear wheel, and the fault is stored when the count is wrong over two crankshaft revolutions, which is one camshaft revolution. The code does not say which type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Wiring or connector fault that comes and goes
- Camshaft sensor fitted incorrectly
- Damaged camshaft sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'No fault found' means the fault is not active right now.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the camshaft sensor connector is free from contact resistance and oxidation, and that the sensor is correctly fixed.
- 4Check that the wiring to the bank 2 camshaft sensor has no chafing or loose connectors, since a wiring fault can come and go.
- 5If your diagnostic tool shows it, read the bank 2 camshaft sensor in live data while the engine runs.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check the camshaft sensor and its wiring.
Symptoms you may notice4
- Car lacks power while driving
- Car hesitates or jerks during acceleration
- Car hesitates or jerks at steady speed
- Check engine light is on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- The ECM uses the crankshaft sensor signal instead
- Camshaft control is switched off
