What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns ignition coil 1 and means an open circuit. The ECM monitors the signal for the coil's primary winding, and the code is stored when that signal is missing.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'Fault found' means the fault is permanent.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check the connector at ignition coil 1 for contact resistance and oxidation.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to ignition coil 1 has no open circuit.
- 5Check that the wire to the coil has no chafing or clamp damage.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check ignition coil 1 and its diagnostic line.
