What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns ignition coil B, which the code identifies as coil 2, and it is an open circuit in the wire from the engine control module (ECM). The ECM checks the signal wire for the coil's primary winding, and the code is stored when that signal is missing.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'Fault found' means the fault is permanent.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check the connector at ignition coil B for contact resistance and oxidation.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to ignition coil B has no open circuit.
- 5Check that the wire to ignition coil B is secure in its clips and not chafed.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check ignition coil B and its diagnostic line.
