What does this fault code mean?
The signal wire between the engine control module (ECM) and ignition coil F is shorted to supply voltage. The code is stored when the incorrect value lasts longer than a set time and stays over two or more driving cycles in a row.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire short circuit to supply voltage
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'No fault found' means the fault is not active right now.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the connector at ignition coil F is secure and free from contact resistance and oxidation.
- 4Check that the signal wire to ignition coil F is not chafed or pinched so that it can touch supply voltage.
- 5Check that the ignition coil is secure and not damaged.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop measure at ignition coil F and its signal wire.
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine lacks power, especially when pulling away from standstill
- Engine lacks power while driving
- Engine hesitates or jerks when slowing down
- Engine hesitates or jerks at steady speed
What the fault can affect1
- Closed loop control of lambda is blocked
