What does this fault code mean?

The fault lies in the signal wire to ignition coil F, according to the code. The code is only stored once the fault has persisted over two or more driving cycles in a row, and it concerns the primary and secondary circuit of the coil.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
    • Open circuit in the signal wire
    • Damaged ignition coil

    What you can do

    1. 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'Fault found' means the fault is permanent.
    2. 2Check that the fuses are intact.
    3. 3With the ignition off, check that the connector at ignition coil F is free from contact resistance and oxidation.
    4. 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to ignition coil F has no open circuit.
    5. 5Check that the wiring to ignition coil F is not twisted, pinched or chafed.
    6. 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check ignition coil F and its diagnostic line.

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • Engine lacks power while driving
    • Car hesitates or jerks when slowing down
    • Car hesitates or jerks at steady speed
    • Car lacks power, especially when pulling away from standstill

    What the fault can affect1

    • Closed loop control of lambda is blocked

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
