What does this fault code mean?
The code applies to the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 and is set when the camshaft segments fall outside a set range during start-up. The code does not say which type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Fault in the cable harness or connectors that only occurs now and then
- Camshaft sensor fitted incorrectly
- Damaged camshaft sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'Fault found' means the fault is permanent.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3With the ignition off, check that the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 is firmly fixed and correctly fitted in its position.
- 4Check that the connector at the exhaust camshaft sensor is free from contact resistance and oxidation.
- 5Check that the wiring to the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 has no chafing or loose connectors.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine light is on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The ECM uses the crankshaft sensor signal instead
