What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 is held constantly low, which the engine control module (ECM) registers as a fault while the engine runs. The code does not say which type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short circuit to ground
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Loose connections
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start the engine and read the fault status. 'Fault found' means the fault is permanent.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 is not shorted to ground (the body).
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the exhaust camshaft sensor on bank 1 is not broken.
- 5Check that the connector at the exhaust camshaft sensor is secure, since loose connections can cause this fault.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop check the exhaust camshaft sensor and its wiring.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine is hard to start
