What does this fault code mean?
The ECM sets this code when the signal for the glow plug lamp is interrupted. The fault concerns an open circuit, and although the code is named as a heater indicator circuit fault, it applies to the lamp in the instrument cluster (DIM).
Possible causes
- Fault in the CAN network
- Fault in the instrument cluster (DIM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, switch on the ignition and read the fault status. 'No fault found' means the fault is not active right now.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact.
- 3Switch on the ignition and look at the glow plug lamp in the instrument panel to see whether it lights and goes out normally.
- 4Read ECM-P038111, ECM-P038112 and ECM-P038119 with the diagnostic tool as well, since they may be related to this code.
- 5Check that the connectors in the CAN network are secure and not loose.
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop trace the fault in the instrument cluster (DIM) and the CAN network.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The glow plug lamp is switched off
