What does this fault code mean?
The ECM keeps watch over the glow system. The fault is set when the voltage on the signal cable to the glow plug control module is too low, which can be caused by the cable being short-circuited to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged glow plug control unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the glow system are intact
- 2Read and clear the fault code, then cold-start the engine and see whether it comes back
- 3Check that the signal cable to the glow plug control module is not chafed, and measure with a multimeter that it has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4Check that the connectors at the glow plug control module are secure and not oxidised
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status and activate the glow function to see whether it starts
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the glow plug control module
