What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the fuel pressure measured by the pressure sensors in the injectors. The fault is set when the pressure sensor in the injector for cylinder 2 differs from the readings of the other three sensors. The sensor in that cylinder is therefore the one causing the difference.
Possible causes
- Pressure sensor in the injector for cylinder 2 is faulty
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the reading from the sensor for cylinder 2 with the other three with the engine at idle
- 2Check that the connector at the injector for cylinder 2 is firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 3Measure with a multimeter that the wire to the injector for cylinder 2 has no open circuit and no contact with ground (the body)
- 4Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the pressure sensor in the injector for cylinder 2
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) light comes on or behaves abnormally
