2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the pressure in the inlet pipe when EGR control is active with the pressure when it is inactive. The fault is set when the pressure does not change enough between the two states. This can be caused by the EGR valve jamming in the open position, a blocked exhaust system, or damaged control for the EGR valve.
Possible causes
- EGR valve has jammed in the open position
- Blocked exhaust system
- Damaged control for the EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the exhaust system is not blocked or clogged, since this affects the flow of exhaust gases
- 2Check that the EGR valve is not sticking or has jammed in the open position
- 3Clean the EGR valve of dirt and soot if it is clogged
- 4Check that the control for the EGR valve, including its cables and connectors, is not damaged
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the EGR valve value at idle and compare it with the engine during a road test
- 6If the fault remains after this, have a workshop replace the EGR valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
- The idle is uneven
