What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named as too high temperature, it is set when the signal from the internal power stage to the EGR motor is incorrect. The fault concerns the EGR A circuit, and it can lie in the connectors, the mechanical valve or the position sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Sticking EGR valve
- Damaged position sensor
- Damaged EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors to the EGR valve are firm and free from oxidation
- 2Check that the intake system does not leak and that the EGR valve connections are not clogged with soot
- 3Clean the EGR valve of dirt and soot if it is clogged
- 4Measure with a multimeter that the wires to the EGR motor have no contact with supply voltage or ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the position sensor value and see that it changes when the EGR valve is activated
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the EGR valve and its control
