What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named as a bus or message fault, it concerns the intake control during soot particle combustion. The ECM sets the code when it finds a fault in the intake control during soot burning, and the signal is below the permitted limit.
Possible causes
- Fault code ECM-P040485 may have the same cause and should be read at the same time
- Air leak in the intake system
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Sticking EGR valve
- Damaged throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Troubleshoot any other stored fault codes first, since this code can come from faults in other engine functions
- 2Check the EGR valve connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the intake system does not leak air, for example at hoses and connections
- 4Check the throttle unit connector for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Check that the damper in the throttle unit moves freely and does not stick from dirt or soot
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the throttle unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
