What does this fault code mean?
The ECM does not receive correct values when it learns the end positions of the EGR valve, or the learning does not succeed. Although the code is named as a low signal, the condition concerns that learning.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged EGR valve
What you can do
- 1First check for fault codes for the turbo system or the mass air flow sensor, and deal with any such codes first
- 2Check the connections to the EGR valve for loose contacts, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable to the EGR valve is not short-circuited to ground
- 4If the fault remains the EGR valve may be damaged, so have a workshop check it
- 5After replacing the EGR valve, a workshop needs to carry out an adaption of it
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
