What does this fault code mean?
The ECM learns the end positions of the EGR valve. The fault is set when the signal from that learning is faulty or the learning fails, and the code is named for a high signal.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Start by reading any fault codes for the turbo system and the mass air flow sensor, and deal with those first if present
- 2Use a multimeter to check whether the signal cable to the EGR valve has voltage with the ignition off
- 3Check that the connectors at the EGR valve are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the EGR valve, and carry out an adaption if it has been replaced
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
