What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns the position sensor for EGR valve A. The ECM monitors the signal from the sensor and sets the fault when the PWM signal from it is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Sticking EGR valve
- Position sensor not working or damaged
What you can do
- 1Start the engine to run the diagnosis, and read the fault status with a diagnostic tool if you have one
- 2Check that the connectors to the position sensor are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 3Use a multimeter to rule out a short between the position sensor's signal wire and the body
- 4Check that the EGR valve is not sticking from dirt or soot
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control is lost
