What does this fault code mean?
The code states that the signal from the EGR valve position sensor is erratic. The ECM monitors the signal and sets the code when it is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Ambient temperature too high
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Start the engine, let it idle for a while, then read the fault status with a diagnostic tool if you have one
- 2If the fault status shows Fault found the fault is permanent; if it shows No fault found the fault is not active at this moment
- 3Switching the engine off erases the stored fault status, so the test has to be redone
- 4Check that the connector to the position sensor is firmly seated and not oxidised
- 5Check that the sensor is not exposed to excessive heat in the engine bay
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control is lost
