What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the position sensor A on the EGR valve and is set when the ECM finds the signal from it to be incorrect. The fault is described as an internal component fault in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Position sensor has stopped working
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and read the fault status with a diagnostic tool if you have one: Fault found means permanent, No fault found means not active now
- 2Check that the connectors to the position sensor are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the position sensor have no break and no contact with ground (the body)
- 4Switching the engine off erases the stored fault status, so the test has to be redone
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control is lost
